A representative from a solicitor’s firm called on a behalf of a client to ask us to clear a three-bedroom flat in a modern block in Bolton city centre. We were instructed to clear all furniture and effects.

We arrived at 10 o’clock, later than usual for us, because we wanted to avoid the heavy morning traffic in the city centre. The representative from the solicitors was onsite and she explained that her client had already removed the things he wanted to keep so we should carry on and remove the rest of the contents.
The flat was on the third floor of the purpose-built block from the 1990s, but luckily there was a large service lift which we were able to use. This was at the back of the property where we were able to park our vans.
As we cleared the flat, we sorted through all the items, separating those that could be reused or recycled from those that would have to go to the local waste facility. We first removed the larger items of furniture and then boxed up smaller items such as kitchen utensils, bric-a-brac and a large collection of DVDs.
Once the flat was cleared, our cleaning team set to work with industrial cleaning equipment. After we’d finished that final task, the solicitor’s representative inspected the property and declared herself more than satisfied with our work.
Bolton House Contents Disposal
We donated the DVD collection to a Bolton based charity shop and most of the furniture went to an organisation that worked with homeless people in Bolton. Most of the rest of the items from the house clearance went to a recycling centre and only about 5 percent had to go to the local waste facility. Our aim is to send no more than 10 percent of a clearance to waste, so we were happy to have easily met our goal on this job.
