Blackpool Tower was inspired by the Eiffel Tower in Paris. Built between 1891-1894, the tower is 518 foot high and is a grade one listed building.

The tower was built with 5 million bricks and 2,500 tonnes of iron. It was designed and built in such a way that if it collapsed, it would fall into the sea.

The top of the tower is closed to visitors if there are winds in excess of 45 mph.
