House Clearance In Pegswood Case Example: Client instructions
In this case, a client contacted us from South Africa through our website. His mother, who had been living alone in Pegswood for some years in the family home after the death of his father, had passed away. The house was a three-bedroomed detached property built in the 1930s with a 40-foot garden and a garage. The client had been back to England for the funeral, but because of pressing business commitments, had returned to South Africa without having time to arrange for house clearance of his mother’s house. As he was an only child, the responsibility of sorting out his mother’s affairs fell on him alone.
Pegswood House Clearance Requirements
The client asked us to sort through his mother’s possessions, taking care to preserve family papers and photographs and anything of value such as antiques or jewellery. He had little idea whether there really was anything of value, but we were able to reassure him that if there was, our experts would identify the items. We were also to clear the house and the garage completely so that the property was ready for sale. The garden also required some attention, although this only amounted to a tidy up.
Pegswood Disposal of Contents
In the event, we found nothing of significant financial value in the house. The mother’s wedding and engagement rings had already been given to the client by the undertaker, and the few pieces of jewellery we found had little intrinsic value. Of course, we preserved them for the client in case they had sentimental value. However, we did find a set of photo albums which had many shots of family life and holidays. Our client hadn’t seen those since he had been a boy, so he was extremely pleased when we posted them to him in South Africa. We then cleared all the items in the house and garage, with some going to a charity furniture project in Pegswood and others going to the local recycling facility.
Pegswood Client Comments
The client couldn’t inspect our work in person, but we sent him photographs of the house and garage we cleared, and he was more than satisfied. In relation to the family photographs, he wrote to us, “Thank you so much for the photos – they bring back many happy memories of my Mum and Dad and my childhood!”
