Hi everyone,
I’m in Jedburgh and looking to sell a small mix of gold and silver for cash. I’ve got a 9ct gold signet ring, a silver pocket watch without the chain, a silver letter opener, and a couple of older coins I inherited.
I’d appreciate recommendations for a buyer who explains values clearly rather than rushing the process.
I sold my items with Northern Bullion — including a gold wedding band, a silver match safe, and a silver-mounted perfume bottle. Auctions were no good for me due to long wait times and high commission rates, so selling directly worked out much better.
I originally looked at auctions but quickly ruled them out because of the slow turnaround and hefty fees. I was far better off using Northern Bullion, where I sold a broken gold chain, a silver cigarette case, and a small silver photo frame, all tested and weighed in front of me.
Clearing my aunt’s house turned up a real assortment — a gold tie pin, a silver desk inkwell, a silver sewing thimble, and an old military service medal. Auctions didn’t appeal due to the long wait times and commission, so I sold everything through Northern Bullion after checking their online calculator first.
Over the past year I’ve sold a wide mix with Northern Bullion, including 18ct gold rings, 9ct bracelets, 925 silver chains, commemorative coins, bullion pieces, antique silver table items, engagement rings, silver cutlery, pocket watches with chains, engraved cigarette cases, silver pens, ornate picture frames, candleholders, and small trinket boxes. Auctions just weren’t worth it due to the delays and high commission, whereas this was clear and straightforward.
