House Clearance in Tyneside – Three-Bedroom Bungalow with Loft and Garage

We cover all areas of Tyneside including Newcastle, Gateshead, North Shields, South Shields, Wallsend, Jarrow, and surrounding communities.

We were recently contacted by a gentleman living in Devon who had been tasked with clearing his late father’s bungalow in a quiet estate near Wallsend, Tyneside. The property had not been lived in for almost a year and had become increasingly cluttered over the years, particularly the loft and garage, which were both packed from end to end.

The customer had originally planned to hire a van and travel up to Tyneside to do the job himself, but after seeing the state of the property during a brief visit, he realised it would be far too much to tackle in a few days. After a short phone call and a couple of emailed photos, we booked him in for a full clearance later that week.

Arrival and initial walkthrough:

Our Tyneside house clearance team arrived on-site at 9 AM. The house was tidy on the surface, but each room had packed cupboards, drawers, and boxes stored along every wall. The garage and loft, however, presented the biggest challenge, both being filled with decades of accumulated clutter.

  • Living Room: Full of large 1970s furniture, hundreds of old magazines, and several box files of paperwork.

  • Bedrooms: Each room contained wardrobes filled with clothing, shoes, handbags, and random bits of tech — from cassette players to early mobile phones.

  • Kitchen: A working cooker and fridge were removed as requested. The cupboards were cleared of out-of-date tinned food and dozens of unused gadgets.

Loft and garage clearance:

  • The loft was packed with Christmas decorations, cardboard boxes, board games, and family memorabilia. It took two team members almost two hours to empty and sort it.

  • The garage had been used as a workshop and storage area. It contained an old lathe, tool cabinets, paint tins, broken furniture, and rusted bicycles.

Items safely recovered and handed to the client:

During the clearance, our team found and returned several personal and valuable items, including:

  • A 9ct gold chain and a pair of gold cufflinks

  • A 1950s RAF service logbook

  • Dozens of family photographs, including early black-and-white prints

  • A set of WW2 medals and a small handwritten diary

  • A vintage enamel advertising sign tucked behind a cupboard

  • House insurance papers, utility bills, and the original property deed

The client was particularly pleased to receive the medals and service logbook, which he hadn’t known existed.

Job completion:

The full clearance took 6.5 hours and required two full van loads — one to a licensed recycling centre and the other to a Tyneside-based charity shop. We removed all carpets and underlay as requested, disconnected white goods, and cleared the garage and loft completely.

Client feedback:

“I was dreading this clearance, but James and the lads made the whole process easy and painless. They turned up on time, worked non-stop, and still managed to recover some amazing family items. I can’t thank them enough. Worth every penny.”
