We cover all areas of North Tyneside including Whitley Bay, Monkseaton, Cullercoats, Tynemouth, North Shields, and surrounding neighbourhoods.
We were recently contacted by a family from Bristol who had inherited a three-bedroom Victorian terrace in Whitley Bay. The property had belonged to their late aunt, who had lived there for over 40 years. The family had fond memories of the home but were shocked upon arrival to discover the extent of clutter inside. Every room was filled, and access was restricted due to furniture, boxes, and bin bags stacked high throughout the house.
They initially considered using a local auction house to handle any valuables, but once they realised nothing could even be assessed until the property was cleared, they decided to contact us instead. We arranged a same-day assessment and booked the clearance for later that same week.
On-site and ready to go:
Our Whitley Bay clearance team of four arrived at 9 AM sharp. The family had left a key with a neighbour, and we got started immediately. The house had not been cleaned or organised in years. There were pathways carved through the clutter, but most rooms were unusable in their current state.
-
Living room: Packed with decades-old furniture, clothing, ornaments, VHS tapes, and stacks of newspapers. The carpet was badly worn and removed for disposal.
-
Dining room: Had become a makeshift storage area — full of bin bags, old toys, broken furniture, and stacks of unopened post.
-
Bedrooms: Each room had clothing piled on beds, boxes of paperwork, and long-outdated electronics. In one wardrobe we found three broken vacuum cleaners and a collection of empty biscuit tins.
-
Kitchen: Full cupboards, expired food, and a disconnected fridge and washing machine. Every surface was covered in bags, pans, or empty containers.
Loft and yard:
The loft was packed tight with crates, old board games, and boxes of Christmas decorations. The rear yard was full of broken garden tools, an old washing line, a rusted BBQ, and a garden bench that had collapsed under a pile of black bags.
Important items found and returned to the family:
Our team carefully sorted through the clutter and handed over several items of importance and sentimental value, including:
-
A 9ct gold bangle and an Art Deco-style silver compact
-
A bundle of family letters from the 1940s–60s
-
A collection of old Whitley Bay postcards and local memorabilia
-
A set of World War II medals in a chocolate tin
-
Several photo albums, including a wedding album from the 1950s
-
A sealed folder containing the original title deed, pension statements, and life insurance documents
The family were especially grateful for the medals and the photo albums, which they had feared were lost in the chaos.
Job completion:
The entire clearance, including loft, yard, carpets, and white goods, took just over 7 hours to complete and required three van loads — two to a licensed recycling centre and one to a local Whitley Bay charity shop.
Client testimonial:
“We were absolutely dreading this clearance. It was emotionally and physically overwhelming. James and his team were professional, kind, and incredibly efficient. They recovered family heirlooms we didn’t even know existed. The house was totally transformed in a single day. I can’t recommend them enough.”
