House Clearance Requirements
A client called to ask if we could clear a large detached house for him, which he planned to move into. The property was a five-bedroomed Edwardian villa in Halifax which he had inherited from his late father. He had gone through the house already and taken his father’s personal effects and other items he wanted to keep. This still left a large amount of furniture which he wanted us to clear, as well as giving the house a thorough clean. Most of the furniture was of little value, but there were some antiques. We agreed to arrange for those to go into auction, a service we often provide to clients.
House Clearance Overview
After carrying out a quick appraisal of the house, we estimated that we would finish the job within the day, probably before 5 p.m. The client was somewhat taken aback by this as he’d assumed it would take us the best part of a week! Our clients are often surprised by how quickly our experienced teams can clear a property.
First, we removed the antique objects that the client had suggested we could sell. These included a fine china tea set, a crystal figurine and a mahogany chest of drawers, all of which we carefully packed then loaded into the van.
We then removed the larger items of furniture from the living room, kitchen and bedrooms. We then went through the entire house loading up the smaller goods and effects into boxes to be placed in the vans. House Clearance Halifax also removed the carpets and underlay, and after we had cleared everything from the house, we gave it a meticulous clean throughout.
Disposal of Contents
Most of the furniture was in good condition so we donated it to three charities working in the Halifax area. We hate to throw anything away unless absolutely necessary, as we’re keen to reduce our environmental impact. We also sold the antiques for a good price, which allowed us to reduce the overall cost of the clearance for our client.
